Meet Your Counsellor

Joasia Crawford

“I am dedicated to providing a safe, non-judgmental and compassionate environment where you can feel understood and acknowledged.”

Who am I?

I am a Registered and accredited member of Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

My journey is similar to most peoples. It is always evolving and always will be. I’ve been engaged in continued growth, personally and professionally, and I am always reminding myself that like all of us, I’m a work in progress. My life continues to be enriched by the people I cross paths with and the conversations that I have with clients.

Why am I a Counsellor?

From my earliest memories I have always been drawn to helping people. I feel privileged to be invited to sit with people in the best and worst times of their lives. I found early on I have an ability to get people to question, reflect and challenge their attitudes and beliefs; recognizing there is no right or wrong but simply the uncovering of you and your own personal truths. I can honestly say it is a honour for me to take part in the transformation of my clients lives.

How did I get here?

My counselling journey has been a lifelong commitment to joining people in their more difficult places and walking alongside them as they navigate their way out. I began my winding path in counselling as a psychology student back in the late 80’s and earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from Dalhousie University. This was followed by a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.

How can I help?

I support clients so that they can strengthen their awareness of self and acknowledge their needs, wants and goals as valid and deserving. Let me walk alongside as you work on healthy ways to fuel your growth and explore your needs. This may encompass exploring old events and patterns and translating them into a more grounded and nourishing path.

Let me help you get to the root of things so that you can come to a better understanding of yourself and others. Going to therapy does not mean that you are broken- going to therapy means that you are HUMAN!

What’s my passion?

One of my greatest loves is the outdoors. I believe true healing and growth happen when we’re connected to nature. It’s in that spirit that I’ve also been an outdoor guide for over 20 years in Canada, Europe and Asia.

I’ve seen it time and time again. Using nature as a therapeutic partner elevates healing and strengthens connections, both internally and with others.

Why book with me?

As a therapist I am grounded and real. I will support and attend to your thoughts, feelings and what is coming up for you in your body. I will help you uncover things in order to cultivate growth and learning. I will be your anchor and guide you on your path of healing, growth or transformation. I have an extensive toolbox to help you gain insight about yourself, support healing and invite change. I am of the belief that when people feel listened to and understood that this sets the groundwork for growth. I’ll hold space for you and meet you wherever you are most comfortable either indoors or outdoors where we can take advantage of our beautiful natural environment.

I’d be honoured to walk you through your journey.
